The Wealthy 2009 Plan~If all goes well
So my husband and I are expected a tax refund this year of at the very least 2000 and at the most 2600. Instead of buying a big screen LCD Television and Playstation 3 we decided to be sensible and do the following instead:
- Open two Tax Free Savings Accounts through ING Direct. They have the highest interest at the moment plus I already have a regular savings account through them and I can refer my husband and we’ll both get 13$ added to our accounts (I love kick-backs) We’ll initially deposit 500$ in each account.
- My husband works full-time and I work part-time at the moment. He works out of town a lot and get a 1$ per hour extra for when he is gone and we’ll deposit that into his account and I will take 200$ our of my pay each month and add 100$ to each account. (this will be re-evaluated in June when I lose of my parttime positions during the summer months)
- He also gets an annual bonus but that will go towards buying a portable Air Conditioner so I dont get so sick during the hotter months of summer.
The Rest of our tax refund will go towards the following:
- New Contact Lenses for me and glasses for hubby. We’ll get reimbursed up to 400$ for both from our insurance which will turn around and add to the following
- Vet visit and annual shots for our cute kitty Willow
- New Clothing for hubby and myself (including new shoes)
- YMCA Membership
- Possibly a 3-month membership to Weight Watchers online (still debating this)
We probably could’ve allocated more from our refund to our opening balances but we both desperately need new clothes and footware and glasses/contact that I didnt want to totally deprive us and then we go on spending binges in the future.
